Overview
LinkPaddy is a browser extension that lets you share web links with friends. This policy explains what information the extension accesses, collects, and transmits, how it is used and stored, and the choices you have.
Information We Access, Collect, or Transmit
LinkPaddy accesses or processes the following categories of data:
- Account data from Google sign-in: name, email address, profile photo, and a Google account identifier.
- App profile data: a generated username, display name, and profile photo.
- Social data: your friend list and friend usernames.
- Shared content: links you share and links shared with you, along with sender and recipient identifiers and timestamps.
- App settings: such as your preference to show link previews.
- Device or extension storage data: data stored locally in the browser to keep you signed in and to cache your links and preferences.
- Clipboard data: when you choose to paste a link from the clipboard.
- Tab or page URL: when you choose to share your current tab.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information such as payment data, government identifiers, or precise location.
How We Use Information
We use the data above to:
- Authenticate you and maintain your session.
- Create and manage your LinkPaddy profile and friend relationships.
- Send and receive shared links.
- Provide notifications and badge counts for new links.
- Improve reliability and user experience.
Where Information Is Stored
- Cloud storage: Firebase services, including Firestore.
- Local storage: Chrome local storage for performance and offline access.
Sharing and Disclosure
We share data only as needed to provide the service:
- With Google OAuth and Firebase services to authenticate users and store data.
- With your selected friends when you share a link.
We do not sell your personal information.
Your Controls and Choices
- Sign out at any time, which clears local cached data.
- Delete your account from within the extension, which removes your data.
- Choose whether to use clipboard or current-tab sharing. These sources are only used when you take an explicit action.
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your stored profile and sharing data within a reasonable period.
Security
We use standard security measures provided by Firebase and Chrome extension APIs. No system is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data against unauthorized access.
International Transfers
Your data may be processed or stored in countries where Google or Firebase operates. We rely on Google and Firebase security and compliance controls for these transfers.
Children
LinkPaddy is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the date at the top of this page and, if changes are significant, provide an in-extension notice.
